Since it’s less than 100 days left until #Halloween, I thought it would be fun to talk about 100 random #horror movies each in a single tweet each day in no particular order. The thread will be below so please RT! #HorrorFam #MutantFam (originally tweeted on 7/26)
Day: 100

Movie: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

Thoughts: This movie is quintessential in the realm of horror and paved the way for future genre films. Today, it can seem pretty tame but no one can deny the impact this film had on the genre.

Rating: 4 chainsaws out of 5
Day: 99

Movie: Friday the 13th The Final Chapter (1984)

Thoughts: Considered by many to be the greatest Friday film, Jason finally dies “for reals” but his power over his audience didn’t keep his franchise from staying dead (thank goodness).

Rating: 4 machetes out of 5
Day: 98

Movie: American Psycho 2: All American Girl (2002)

Thoughts: Take a cerebral slasher full of social commentary, make a sequel that takes all of that out and throws in more Scream and you get this heaping pile of trash.

Rating: 1 video tape out of 5
Day: 97

Movie: Halloween H20 (1998)

Thoughts: After the insanity of H6, the series needed a refresh and making a direct sequel to H2 was a smart call. It also helped that it was really good with a satisfying ending that would eventually be destroyed.

Rating: 4 masks out of 5
Days until #Halloween: 96

Movie: V/H/S: Viral

Thoughts: After 2 very disturbing and horrifying films, the series returned for a third round of found footage goodness, only this time it wasn’t good at all. Hopefully the V/H/S reboot redeems the series.

Rating: 2 VCRs out of 5
Days until #Halloween: 95

Movie: Raw (2016)

Thoughts: A “raw” take on the coming-of-age genre by exploring canablistic tendencies that are genetically passed on. It’s haunting, gross and beautiful.

Rating: 5 pork chops out of 5
Days until #Halloween: 94

Today’s Movie: The Lodge (2019)

Thoughts: This haunting tale takes cabin fever to a whole new level by taking it to darker levels while exploring a dynamic family struggle. It’s an instant Christmas-time horror classic.

Rating: 5 delusions out of 5
Day: 93

Movie: Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Thoughts: Night delivers on everything you want in a zombie film but it beat every other film to the punch. Groundbreaking, haunting and dreadful, it’s absolutely quintessential to the genre.

Rating: 5 severed hands out of 5
Days until #Halloween: 92

Today’s Movie: Freddy vs Jason (2003)

Thoughts: While filled with flaws, FvJ is a bloody fun time and packed with goodies for fans of both franchises. It’s too bad we didn’t get the Freddy vs Jason vs Ash movie.

Today’s Movie: Halloween 4 (1988)

Thoughts: A fantastic sequel after years of no Myers! It’s really too bad that the anthology route they tried to take with III just didn’t pan out. And oh boy the sequels to this...

Today’s Movie: Body Bags (1993)

Thoughts: A fantastic anthology horror film that was meant to be the first 3 episodes of a series but got canned. It’s too bad, I would have loved to see how this series continues!

Today’s Movie: The Evil Dead (1981)

Thoughts: This film was one of the earliest horror films I ever saw and it rocked my world. It’s disturbing, horrifying and, above all, really fun.

Today’s Movie: Paranormal Activity (2009)

Thoughts: This movie is absolutely terrifying by thought and sound alone. Never do you see a ghost but you know it’s there and it’s scary.

Rating: 4 spirits out of 5

Today’s Movie: Sinister (2012)

Thoughts: The film’s horrifying 8 mm shorts was enough to scary me (we need an anthology film like this) but the film starts lacking when the Bagul jump scares litter the screen.

Rating: 3 film reels out of 5

Today’s Movie: Dog Soldiers (2002)

Thoughts: One of the best werewolf movies! Being trapped in a house surrounded by werewolves is one thing, but when one gets inside (in a sense), your night is screwed

Today’s Movie: Black Christmas (1974)

Thoughts: An instant classic in both the horror genre and Christmas genre. The slasher horror mixed with phone call scares is really fun and creepy for the holiday season.

Today’s Movie: Event Horizon (1997)

Thoughts: What do you get when you take the concept of Hellraiser’s hellscape, throw it into space and have it turn out really good? You get this film.

Rating: 4 demons out of 5

Today’s Movie: Halloween II (2009)

Thoughts: Rob Zombie is given full reign on his sequel and gives an original take on the supernatural aspect of the Myer’s family. I thought it was great but pretentious at times.

Rating: 3 white horses out of 5

Today’s Movie: The Hills Have Eyes (2006)

Thoughts: Sure, it’s a remake but it’s the most badass remake I’ve ever seen. I think the final revenge scene kicks so much ass that it’s worth sitting through alone

Rating: 4 mutants out of 5

Today’s Movie: Creepshow 2 (1987)

Thoughts: While there’s a few aspects of the film that wouldn’t hold up culturally these days, it’s still a whole lot of fun and each story is actually good, even the wrap around!

Today’s Movie: IT (2017)

Thoughts: It is a fantastic blockbuster horror film that is truly horrifying, especially if you’re a kid. Pennywise has never been scarier and am glad this chapter stands alone.

Today’s Movie: Jeepers Creepers (2001)

Thoughts: This movie is just plain bad. The Creeper is really goofy and not at all scary. I don’t really care for the siblings and the digital effects ruin the great practicals.

Rating: 2 peepers out of 5

Today’s Movie: The Thing (1982)

Thoughts: This absolute classic of horror really prays on the fears of isolation, claustrophobia and untrustworthiness. Grade A horror right here.

Rating: 5 things out of 5

Today’s Movie: The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)

Thoughts: This one surprised me at how good it was. The 80s callbacks are great and it’s truly terrifying of a film. Personally, it’s proof that sequels can be better.

Rating: 4 stalkers out of 5
