A (precursor?) version of the work in Brussels - possibly by the hand of Campin himself - shows more of the motif.
A pitcher ('boccale') at auction recently dated to the second quarter of the c15th - the shape turns out to be characteristic of Tuscany, especially Montelupo. Blue and white was happening. Birds were a thing.
