Here's a thread I haven't done for a little while: Shopping Centre Postcards! Enjoy a tour of over-lit malls, long-since removed fountains, desolate bus stations, half-hearted hanging gardens and defunct high street brands. We start in Basildon and the Eastgate Shopping Centre
Bedford. I think the shops are there somewhere.
Brent Cross and its amazing multi-colour dome.
Off to Sweden briefly and Farsta Centrum (it's alphabetical, in case you hadn't noticed)
The mega mall comes to the UK: The Metro Centre Gateshead 1
The Metro Centre Gateshead 2
The Metro Centre Gateshead 3
The Metro Centre Gateshead 4
Eldon Square, Newcastle 1
Eldon Square, Newcastle 2
Broad Marsh Centre, Nottingham
Staying in Nottingham and the Victoria Centre. Some enticing 70s ceiling lighting action going on there...
Another trip to the States - the Peaches Center, Atlanta
Peterborough, for fans of symmetry
Where European pedestrianised shopping streets began - Rotterdam
Sunderland. Should set the pulses racing of a few on here...
AND FINALLY, Wakefield 3. Right, back to work the lot of you!
Stop work again - I've found the Whitgift Centre ones!
Oh, and these... Definitely the end now!
Well, it is the return of the thread that refuses to die... Let's have a few more shopping centres, starting with this rather lovely dusk shot of Central Milton Keynes:
Home of the pink flamingos: Luton Arndale Centre
The Arndale Centre, Doncaster. Love the red and white chequerboard ceiling outside Woolies...
And here is an exterior shot of the Doncaster Arndale
The Frenchgate Centre in Doncaster
Some more Eldon Square, Newcastle - this time with some rather large pencils outside Dixons...
And finally for tonight (although I am sure this thread will return...), the St David's Centre in Cardiff, with a glimpse of that 80s shopping centre staple - the slatted mirrored ceiling:
