after all the drama surrounding classroom of the elite anime, it destroyed possibility of a second season of one of the most popular LNs in japan. basically they would need to do a retelling of the first season for a second season to make any sense. i wouldnt blame the director.
Basically, this LN is very unique because the author is Shogo Kinagusa, a madman. He worked before as a VN scenario writer. his writing is insanity. and he writes very long stories. I wouldnt be surprised if Classroom of the elite number of volumes surpasses 30
he likes to focus on one heroine for a long period of time. and he starts with heroines that aren't important to the main story. this is why the anime had a dilemma about how to animate a LN in which the main female character wouldnt have any screen time.
So they decided to switch the main heroine with the girl that had focus at the start of the story, so she would have the character development and bond with the Male mc. that was an error. ppl really liked this girl and she was almost every reader waifu.
Kinagusa always does this. and it usually takes a long of playtime for his stories to make sense. I also like Horikita a lot but Kinagusa isnt prolly going to give her any focus after quite some time.
this is one of the few novels i understand anime directors to be baffled about what to do. you vcany really blame the director. at least not only him
LN's are easy to read, indeed, but that doesnt mean they are short. some of them are massive, like some volumes can be 400-500 pages long. difficult to adapt in anime formart. on top of that u never know if the LN will have a 2nd season.
