Having worked on #youthemployment for 10+ years, I am often stunned to see how “youth employment” programs are not geared towards the specific characteristics and needs of young people at all. Many recommendations on youth employment programs are not specific to #youth ... 3/n
... but apply to employment interventions more broadly (e.g. aligning interventions with labour market needs, etc.). As a result, interventions often provide "mechanical" services, without being sensitive to the developmental needs of #YOUTH. 4/n
Surprisingly, there is relatively little written about the specific factors youth employment programs need to consider based on the characteristics of the target group. For our review, the literature on #PositiveYouthDevelopment was particularly useful, especially... 5/n
