THREAD - parallels between the sequels and the prequels, Part 1.

Let’s start with TFA and the prequels.

Rey and Anakin are both kids in a dangerous desert world being exploited by creatures only thinking about profits. Both dream of a better future, full of adventures.
Rey isn’t the only character who parallels Anakin. Indeed, just like Anakin, Finn was a slave who always wanted to help people, to do what is good.
But soon enough, they meet new friends and finally escape this hopeless life.
Rey and Anakin arriving on Takodana and Coruscant. It’s the first time they see anything else than the rough sand of Jakku and Tatooine. It’s the beginning of a great Adventure.
On this same planet, Rey and Anakin get Force visions. The former gets a vision of her mysterious past. The latter gets a vision of his tragic future. These visions will influence their destinies, which will inevitably be completely different.
The tragic lovers. Han & Leia lost their son. Anakin fears to lose Padmé. Anakin and Han would do anything to save what their loved ones and this leads them to a tragic fate.
Because of this, Anakin Skywalker and Ben Solo, who keep committing atrocities during the whole film, fall even deeper into the dark side, leaving everyone in pain.
Whilst Kylo Ren does it to go deeper and deeper into the dark side, Anakin knows that what he is doing is wrong and wants to avoid darkness to save Padmé. That being said, at the end of their respective trilogies, they end up at the opposite of what they initially wanted.
Padmé and Han respectively love Anakin and Ben more than anything. They want to help these tormented young men. Yet Anakin and Ben both participate in their loved one’s death.
Speaking of Han’s death, this scene obviously parallels Qui Gon’s death. Both are mentors for younger people seeing them as their father figure.
Our heroes, full of anger, confront the killers of their father figure.
We’ve seen previously that there are a lot of parallels between Rey and Anakin. Here, Rey taps into the dark side because of all her anger. Just like Anakin.
Obviously, Kylo Ren and Darth Maul are much more trained than Rey and Obi Wan. They don’t stand a chance. However, because of their trust in the Force and their inner peace, they manage to heavily injure the dark knights, leaving them in pain, frustration and anger.
In The Force Awakens and in The Phantom Menace, a new war is starting. The First Order attacks the New Republic while The Trade Federation. Both of these military organizations are lead by tyrannical Generals responding to mysterious characters, deeply connected to the dark side.
In the beginning of episode VII and episode I, these two generals fail to capture our heroes who, after a fight, manage to espace and end up meeting new people who will considerably change the fate of the Galaxy ...
But their failure doesn’t end here. Poe Dameron and Anakin Skywalker destroy a huge battle station with their starship.
