Sometimes it's impossible to explain medical issues to those who dont want to hear. So, rely on metaphors. This one is about Trump's claims on how "great" he's performed on testing. It is an abject failure, and hopefully you can use this to explain to those who don't get it.../1
...and yes, I know the ones who dont want to hear often are the ones who won't listen. And this is imperfect. But here goes:
Pretend there's a cancer causing agent in some new form of pineapple. Two people - Sue and Alice - exposed, both start developing breast cancer.../2

...Sue and Alice have different MDs. Alice's MD tells all his patients to not eat pineapple. He brags about how many of his patients he has saved. Meanwhile, Alice's cancer is growing.
Sue's MD tests for cancer. Confirms. Does lumpectomy & small amount of chemo. She's cured.../3

...meanwhile, Alice's doctor continues doing nothing except bragging about how he stopped his patients from eating pineapple. Alice's cancer grows and spreads. Eventually, even though Alice's doctors wants to keep ignoring it, it has gotten too terrible. Alice needs.../4
...significant amount of treatment. She gets surgery, removing tons of tissue from various areas, radiation, and tons of chemo.
However, Alice needs 10 months of chemo now because the cancer has spread. Her MD only has 5 months of chemo available...../5

...after the first month, Alice's MD says "HAH! I'm so much better than Sue's MD! He only gave 2 weeks of chemo, and *I* have given a month!"
A bit later, Sue's cancer flares up, she gets more chemo, but again, not much.
Meanwhile, Alice has had 4 months, and her MD keeps.../6

...bragging and bragging and bragging that he has given far more chemo than Sue's MD.
The metaphor: *IF* our incompetent president started sooner, before Covid spread out of control, wed have needed far fewer tests. But now, with it out of control, we need 5 million A DAY.../7

...just like Alice needs 10 months of chemo, but her doctor only has 5, we need 5 million a day now, and are doing nowhere close to that. In other words, just like Alice's MD, Trump is FAILING. It doesn't matter how we compare to countries that did it right. We did it wrong..../8
...and so need far far more tests. But Trump is too stupid and incompetent to understand this. Which is why, just like Alice, the chance that the United States will survive this is much, much lower than it should be.
