I want to defend @MACSports FB - which a lot of people have used as a punching bag the last few days.

Does the league play a lot of “buy games” and get crushed some times?

For sure ... but ........
Let’s start with @EMUAthletics, which has three @bigten road wins in the last three years, more than both Rutgers and Maryland....

And sure, they’re not good, but they’re also, you know, IN THE BIG TEN.
While we’re on Maryland. The Terps lost to Nebraska by 47.

NIU lost to Nebraska by less than that.

NIU also lost to Vanderbilt and, sure, that’s bad, but they played the ‘Dores tighter than Missouri, who is, you know, in the SEC.
Then there’s Miami. Everybody likes to point out how the MAC gets paid to get steamrolled by P5s.

Miami lost to Ohio St 76-5.

Cool. But at least they got 1.3 million.

What did Indiana get to lose 51-10? Or NWstern 52-3? Or Nebraska 48-7? Or a ranked UM 56-27?

OSU smashed all
Lots of people point to the Kent State games.

Kent plays a lot of buy games.

Kent got beat by Wisconsin 48-0 last year.

What was Michigan State’s excuse when it lost by 38? Or USF when it lost by 49?
Then there was the time WMU “didn’t belong” in the Cotton Bowl and lost to Wisconsin 24-16.

So what was Ohio State’s excuse losing 31-0 in the Fiesta Bowl....or Auburn in the Sugar Bowl?
And remember the time NIU “didn’t belong” in the Orange Bowl?

Sure, it lost by 3 TDs to FSU (albeit in a fairy entertaining game).

You know who else did that in 2012? Six other teams—including four in the ACC.
And remember that time Ball State ran UVa out of its own stadium?

And the other time NIU best Alabama?

And the time Ohio beat Penn State?

And the time Ball State almost shocked the hell out Norte Dame?

Yeah....we do.
Does the MAC gets beat up on in games against some Power 5 opponents?

Sure does!

But it also wins some of those, competes in some of those and, if it doesn’t, at least it got paid.

What are your team’s excuses?

Tired of people beating up on the MAC.
Oh, and if you want to say

“Well all these examples are games against bad P5 teams!”

Okay fine ... stop saying how Bowling Green lost two buy games by 104. That was a bad MAC team.

Ball State played two buy games and lost by 10 and 11.
