Hmmm....Sat across from Pierce Brosnan at breakfast in the Santa Monica Fairmont in Jan 15. Nice fellow. Polite to the waitresses & waiters. Breakfast drowned out by a young lady at adjacent table complaining to (I presume father) about need for an increase in her 'allowance'. https://twitter.com/JLewisland/status/1291352458694885376
To be fair to this young lady here, her loud comments were to the effect that her (I presume) father had led her to believe that Dad would keep her allowance rising in accord with her lifestyle. Her (I presume step mother) seemed unimpressed. Pierce was unmoved, too, iirc
In a sense, at that breakfast in Santa Monica, the real question became, not what was Pierce Brosnan doing here, but whether the (I presume) father was estopped from denying his obligations to his daughter when she had clearly relied on this understanding when shopping etc
Did the daughter in her 20s have a reasonable case that her father must provide the ongoing financial support that at some stage he clearly had represented would be coming? Could the father say that no reasonable mind could in good conscience rely as his (I presume) daughter had?
In a very real sense, Pierce Brosnan waiting for someone to arrive was but a mere prelude to this increasingly loud family drama, that included a very curious point of equity, that would have fascinated both a Jane Austen and a Lord Eldon, albeit in, of all places, California
This particular morning began with sharing an elevator with Aerosmith’s Steve Tyler & I presume Mrs Tyler. When we arrived at ground floor, we let the ladies get out first & I then turned to Steve said, “after you...walk this way” and he, a good sport, guffawed as he stepped out.
