I think a distinction needs to be made and understood. Having a mental health condition + illness explains unhealthy behavior + decisions but it doesn't excuse it. You are not responsible for your past trauma but you are responsible for your healing. /1
None of the self care/treatment/therapy works unless you do. The way we acted, treated people etc can be explained by a mental illness but if the action steps to get better/healthier are not being made then we are not taking responsibility of our condition /2
That's why help/support/treatment must be available & accessible to everyone. It encourages & makes it normal to ask and get help. Very important to keep encouraging open and responsible conversation. And continuing to educate ourselves on different mental health conditions.

So lets show up for our loved ones when they need us most. Lets show up for ourselves when we need us most.
We deserve love, care, help and treatment.
We deserve to feel healthy and happy and at home with our mind and body.
Help is available. Help is real.

Also, blaming all terrible things on mental illness is wrong and harmful. It builds greater shame and stigma around those conditions and illnesses. Which will cause less people to seek help and more people to behave in unhealthy ways.
