"Once upon a time there was a railroad line"
(SPOILERS FOR FATA MORGANA)
It's time for door three, this thread will more resemble the thread of door 1.
It won't be split into distinct part, but as always I will start with the technical.

Clothes and design:
This time I have a lot to say about the dress design and that's because it's amazing. Without boring you with many details here is the basic rundown.
The dress The White Haired Girl wears is pretty accurate to the dress form that was popular at the time.

Though the silhouette and fitted sleeves are more similar to years of Anna Karenina 1870-1873. The rose ornamentation are not only great because they are historically accurate to how decorative this era of fashion was but also a good way to show TWHG connection to the rose garden
Jacopo's outfit is also amazing. I don't know much about men's fashion but his fit definitely embodies his elegance and poise.
The background art is very good too. Evoking that industrial atmosphere with black and white motifs. And if I'm being honest all the backgrounds looked like vintage photographs.
The music was great, again setting the atmosphere perfectly. Very catchy and unique tracks were used, my favorite being Ciao Carina. Another great one was the theme played when you found out about Maria's true intentions, it sounded like an Italian opera.
Another thing I noticed is that theme of the rose garden was back when The Maid and the White Haired Girl spoke again there. It was a very clever way of showing connection between the two scenes. And as I said before it's something frequently done in musicals.
The non technical:
"King of iron, King of steel"
I started this Door 3 hating Jacopo, his smug smile (congrats on the artist the expressions were top tier), the way he treated his wife, hell the way he treated life, it was all so distasteful to me.

But what you do not know at the beginning is how he truly feels and why he acts the way he does. Now I'm not here to justify him beating his wife (not even he did that) but there is deeper layer that needs to be understood here.
He is the man crushed by the load put on him from a very young age. Told that he needs to climb the corpses in order to rise up, believing that will give him the satisfaction he craves. And to a degree he does thrive in that role and understands how it hurts him personally.
What he doesn't understand is the mask of emotionless man he puts on when interacting with people he loves, mainly his wife. Deep down he is an emotional man who gives into his impulses allowing himself to hit the woman that he loves.
Dwelling in his own insecurity that only fuels his jealousy. As we see his amazing at controlling money and business and things he finds more tangible, but fails in understanding the fabrications of his mind. And to a degree he is not 100% to blame here.
Growing up with everyone laughing at you is bound to leave some scars. And to add to that he is being manipulated.
And when we finally see the full picture we realize, his reactions tell the tale of much more vulnerable and emotionally unstable man. With but a one simple desire.

Do I think he went right about in making the White Haired Girl happy? No. But that's how it is sometimes with insecurity so deeply engraved into ones mind (still not justifying the abuse just trying to understand broken man).
What's heartbreaking is that when he finally tries to better himself and confesses his love it's too late. It's like some sort of a divine punishment but not only for his actions but also for the actions of the ones before him.
And that's best manifested through Maria.
Maria is woman out for revenge on Jacopo and because of what his father had done to her family. She is a great character with a lot on nuance but what I think is the best about her is how she is basically the kickstarted to the plot.

Everything happens because of her carefully crafted plan. Plan born of a grudge. And even when Jacopo tried to help her it all fell apart because of the load of the of the Bearzatti family.
Two women he valued the most both slipped from his grasp due to the path he that was bestowed upon him.
