I don't know why some people keep blaming SpongeBob for the cancellation of Nickelodeon shows.
For one, neither Nick nor Stephen Hillenburg ever expected SpongeBob to be a massive hit in the first place. Neither of them ever wanted SpongeBob to be a benchmark (cont) https://twitter.com/Crimson_Mayhem_/status/1292442359725207552

of a "good show" on the network.
It's just sad that after SpongeBob's popularity grew on a global level, it may have unintentionally become the "standard" with which other Nick shows got measured.

cartoon is dumb. No creator wanted to make a cartoon with the intent to make it very popular, they just wanted to keep kids (and adults?) entertained and hopefully get Nick executives to give 'em the greenlight.
Do any of y'all really think that if SpongeBob ended after 3 (cont)

seasons, other shows would've gotten better treatment â especially with the fact that SpongeBob was already popular worldwide after only 3 seasons?
Even if it ended the way Hillenburg originally intended, that isn't a guarantee that Nick would give other shows a chance. (cont)

Don't blame a popular cartoon for the "failure" of another â blame it on the lack of vision of the executives.
And also, all this outcry about the lack of original cartoons in modern-day Nick is just lip service if y'all don't even watch their new cartoons. Don't just (cont)

claim to support the new shows. Watch them on official sites and don't pirate them, so Nick executives will see the numbers and ultimately realize your support towards new content.
Sadly, entertainment and animation is still a business, so boycotting Nick won't do any (cont)

good about the new content. And admit it, the revenue brought in by SpongeBob's success is part of the reason why Nick can now greenlight more projects; more money from revenue = more money for new cartoons = more jobs in the animation industry = more entertainment for us. (cont)
TL; DR:
Don't blame SpongeBob for the cancellation of other shows.
Consistently watch original content from the network and show your support instead. No lip service.
