Power and individual rights are not Christian values. Morality is fluid to those grasping for power.

When we focus on power and rights we forget our religo-ethical responsibility to be salt and light—to lay down our lives, and give ourselves as a living sacrifice.
I can’t remember a time in my own history with the faith that martyrdom hasn’t been romanticized, but we trap ourselves in a weird theological box when we both cannonoize martyrs, and seek worldly dominion.

We either believe in the nobility of giving up our lives, or we don’t.
To seek earthy power is sayi that we don’t believe that God, in his power, can fulfill his purpose for the church or in our individual lives.

What we fight for is our witness. What is the world witnessing from us?
