Hey indie comics folks. A friend just pointed out something to me that I think bears repeating. If you want to move on from mainstream comics like DC and Marvel, stop looking back at them. Stop giving them attention. Ignore them completely. They need you a lot more than you them.
I'd also like to add. Try to stop putting so much focus on the negative and highlight the positive things that happen in indie comics. There is a LOT of good going on right now with it and I feel like it gets all too easily overshadowed by negativity and drama sniping.
Let's be builders.

Here's my positivity: I've made a lot of wonderful friends who are independent creatives. I've been inspired to start my own comic book imprint/publisher Science Wizard Comics and start drawing my own comic. I've been drawing more and more art...
since rediscovering my passion for it and have teamed up with some great folks who help me and I help them to produce the best work possible. I've got 3 titles officially signed to my label. Juanpool by Mistah Mahvel which I've run a successful campaign on IGG for...
and am in the process of fulfillment for 2 issues, Pineapple Pizza Man, written by @PPM_no1 and edited/drawn by me, and The Chicken Warrior by @SmackinKraken. Both PPM and CW will be done their first issues either later this year or early next year and our abilities keep ...
improving. We've built up a strong rapport among the team and keep learning more and more to make our efforts faster and more efficient with each release. I've been supported by people here on twitter through commissions and supported many artists myself for great commissions...
and I am very hopeful for the future of storytelling. 5 years ago I pretty much stopped drawing altogether. My spark almost completely extinguished. But with the help and support of wonderful people like my team at @ScienceComics I've been drawing more than ever...
With more finished works each year. Last year I drew 1 comic cover. This year I've already finished one and have a second on the way right now, PLUS a whole comic drawn by me. Never stop fighting. Never give up hope. KEEP drawing and writing and making your dreams come true.
