like, what is the best possible outcome imaginable for these OPEN THE SCHOOLS ghouls? they are aware of the facts; this is not a position of ignorance; they know opening schools without protocols and area conditions results in infection spikes and abrupt emergency re-closures
in fact there is no imaginable outcome without protocols and local conditions that *does not* end in virus spikes and abrupt closures. and yet they demand it anyway because they wish to please a loud but diminutive minority
we have already been through this before except instead of nail salons and red lobster now it’s schools. so despite being unequivocally proven wrong the first time they’ve chosen to up the ante by taking other people’s kids as political hostages
sorta crazy but I don’t think we should dismiss the possibility that what drives a lot of this guaranteed-highly-public-failure behavior isn’t an extremely weird cycle of perpetual victim status seeking behavior
“I know I will get dunked on if I demand a thing I know will end terribly if I get my way, therefore I will demand it LOUDLY” is a real mentality. it’s basically failure farming
“killing off grandma to own the libs” is a joke except what if it isn’t, what if grandma has to die so you can maintain your status of poor-ol-me
you could almost view it as a style of bet hedging where the best case outcome is a highly improbable I-told-you-so status and the most likely outcome is maintaining cache as a poor hapless dunk victim the evil libs are out to destroy
“I just wanted the kids back in school so bad and now they are out to cancel me” sounds like pretty prosperous territory
