1k vs 10k vs 100k- Differences in playing style across the ranks
🚨Long Thread🚨
Around 50 people have helped me with this thread. I asked them thing about last season, next season and FPL things in general. Their names are at the end of the thread
I want to break this thread down into a few topics
• Balancing your squad
• Transfers
• Stats
• Chips
• Some scenario's
• Other things
Balancing your squad
I noticed that in the top 1k players don't like to have a lot of value on the bench. They mostly use this bench structure: GK 4.0, Def 4.0 Mid 4.5 and FWD 4.5. For their GK they like to either get a 4.5 set and forget or two 4.5 goalkeepers to rotate.
For the premium players they want to get 1 premium defender, 2 premium mids and one premium FWD.
It was also a common answer for the players in the top 10k. The thought behind this is that it makes switching between premiums easier. i noticed that some players in the top 10k like to have a bit more value on the bench.
For the top 100k there were some differences. Some invest more in the defence and some invest more in the midfield. They also like to have a bit more value on the bench. But I think this is the most common structure for premium players

DEF 1
Mid 2
FWD 1
The next topic is about transfers. I asked them the following questions. How many hits have you taken last season and did they work out? How many goalkeeper changes have you made? How much does twitter effect your transfers?
In the top 1k the amount of hits were really low some of them took only 5 hits or less. One manager named @fplboyo took a 40 hits this season. This shows that you can still get a great rank even if you take a lot of hits.
In the top 10k the amount of hits taken is a little bit higher the average was around 7 hits all season. There was no one who took a -120 in total here. They said that their hits worked out relativly well.
In the top 100k the amount of hits taken was also not too high. It was around the same amount as in the top 10k. They said that their hits didn't work out too well. I think that is defenitly something you need for a high finish.
For the goalkeeper transfers it was pretty different in the top 1k some of them only made 1. They changed it mostly on their WC. Some other players made more transfers on GK. The average is around 3 transfers on GK (exluded WC transfers).
In the top 10k and in the top 100k the GK transfers were a little bit higher. I noticed that most players only change it on WC. I think myself that using FT on GK'S is a waste of a transfer.
How much does twitter influence their transfers? The answer to this question was for most ranks the same. Twitter is great to talk about ideas and transfers but they have all made their transfers with their own idea instead of the idea of FPL twitter.
I asked the people the following thing about stats: How much do you look at xG and xA? The answers in the top 1k were as following. They don't use xG or xA but shots inside the box, shots on target and points per game. Some don't look at stats
In the top 10k and 100k were different. They like to use more stats to look at their transfer like xG and xA. They also like to use other stats as mentioned in the last one.
I asked them a lot of questions and scenario's about chips. Some are about this season and some for next season.
How would they use their chips is we get a BGW in GW1 and even GW2? In the top 1k they said that the would most likely wait with their WC. 1 person said he would WC in GW2. They would use some free hits to get the players in
In the top 10k the answers were pretty different. Some said they would use some FT to get the players in and others said they would use their WC early. In the top 100k people said they are most likely going to use their WC in GW3
When do you think is the best time to use your FH? When some of your players are injured and suspended or in a DGW/BGW? In every rank the common answer was in a DGW/BGW. 'It has a much higher cealing' was the common reason for it.
I asked them when the best time is to use your BB. The answers were either when you have a problem to sort out your bench or in a DGW. We will normally get 2 DGWs in a season.
I wanted to know on who they used their TC on this season because I think that can make a big difference in your rank. In the top 1k nearly everyone has had a big return from their TC. The main answer was Salah in GW24
In the top 10k most people used it on Salah. Some people used it on Mane in the same DGW. In the top 100k the answers were the same as in the top 10k. I think a good TC can make a huge difference in your rank.
I also prepared some scenario's. The first one is: A injury prone player is getting a lot of points would you get him in with the risk of him getting injured? In the top 1k they mostly answered that they wouldn't take the risk
In the top 10 they said that they would take the risk if the player had a good price and good fixtures. In the top 100k the answers were really mixed. I would say more people would take the risk and get him in.
I gave them the following scenario. Your player has blanked 3GW’s in a row but his stats are good what would you do with that player? The answer in the top 1k was if it was a premium they would sell him. They would also look at the upcoming fixtures of that player
In the top 10k and 100k they said that they would keep the player in their team for 1GW. If he doesn’t return in that match they would sell him for another player
I asked them some other short questions which I will include here quickly

In all the chats these were the most common answers. Don’t start with many, look at OOP players, attacking backs
