IDENTIFYING the #SNAKES in #WAPMusicVideo : a THREAD 🧵 🐍

@iamcardib @theestallion
The snakes featured in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s latest viral music vid have been getting a ton of attention.
MTS shared a few photos, stating they used real live snakes in the video.

So, I’m gonna ID them. And YES, they are all non-venomous, harmless-to-human species.
This green beauty is most like an emerald tree boa, but could also be a green tree python. It’s definitely either a python or boa. Both species are very common in the pet trade. GTP are native to New Guinea, while ETB is native to South American jungles 🐍
These are milksnakes! The larger one appears to be an albino milksnake morph, while the smaller appears to be a pueblan milksnake. Both are v common in the pet trade. Milksnakes are native to North America! Milks in the pet trade look more vibrant bc they are bred to be this way.
Next up is this big boy: the Burmese python. Burmese pythons are in the top five largest snakes in the WORLD. Native to Southeast Asia, but invasive elsewhere, including USA. Again, they’re common in the pet trade, & this one looks diff from wild type bc of breeding practices
There are several other large-bodied snakes in this scene, like these two. They’re either real pythons or CGI renderings of pythons. I know MTS said some live snakes were used, but I’d guess there are a few fake ones included as well. That or producers enhanced the colors on them
This big black snake is tricky...I think they want it to look like a venomous red-bellied black snake(from AUS). It’s either CGI, a RBBS with its venom “removed” (unlikely but 🤷‍♀️) or similar looking harmless species, like the indigo snake (North America’s LONGEST snake species!)
Lastly, there are a few snakes that look a lot like Diamondback rattlesnakes. Again, maybe CGI or maybe a harmless species made to imitate something more venomous. To me, the rattles look edited in this pic. Diamondback rattlesnakes are native to southern USA and Central America!
In summary, we see a lot of pythons, milksnakes, and boas in this vid, as well as a few potentially rendered snakes. All very excellent, harmless-to-humans snake species who have native ranges across the world, but are also common in the pet trade. 🐍🐍🐍🐍
