I want to see college football play for a myriad of reasons. But if my colleagues and I in the media talk to decision-makers and they say “it isn’t looking good” am I just supposed to say “well this fear monger doesn’t think it’s gonna happen but I say play on!” Come on, Joel. https://twitter.com/joelklatt/status/1292305759137492992
Players want to play. We know this. Good for them speaking out. There have also been several cases, including here in Syracuse, where players say out practice to get better testing and to feel safer on the field. Are we pushing panic and fear by reporting that?
I do think it’s time for schools and conferences to release more of the data they are seeing that is giving them pause and what has to be achieved to get on the field because right now it is a lot of anonymous sources giving opinions. That can lead to the perception of panic
But to say “many in the CFB media have worked hard to push panic and fear?” Just because you don’t like the news doesn’t mean you get to spin it as “fear porn.” There was a stretch of time where all these commissioners and AD’s said they were going to play. We reported that too.
