A thread about Bayern match where I play it like a football computer game.
If we build an XI solely based on the performance against Napoli with some of what we've seen this season, this is my XI.
it is called: "Fuck it! Mess the whole shit up. Go brave, even if you go home"

There is A LOT there that we don't know. How good can Dembele be? Are Fati and Puig up for a complex tactical meal? etc... etc...
BUT there is also a lot that WE know about the players not showing up there. Stuff that keeps them out of it without feeling we are risking a lot.

Defensively: I get the idea behind what was tried against Napoli. Defending deep as a block. Regardless of what I think about it.
Against a team with so much pace and overlapping players on flanks (vs OUR FULLBACKS) and towering dynamic players attacking the box, that won't work.

The best way to defend against Bayern is to start pressing in the MIDDLE third while having enough coverage behind that. Press their defensive third and you are exposed once they break thru that (and they have the tools to do that), wait in your defensive third and they ruin you.
That's one of the reasoning behind that lineup. Defense.
Young legs with pace and numbers in the middle third to disturb Bayern's build-up. Two players on the flank who can do defensive work in front of the fullbacks (Seen them doing so before).Double pivots with multi-purposes.

IN offense: You have the double pivots to help releasing the fullbacks up the pitch so that Fati or Dembele cuts inside one at a time. Messi-Puig movement can pull Alaba out of position to create penetration lanes. And overall enough pace to counter. Energy.
And Messi does Messi.
And Messi does Messi.
Now you look at the bench. Roberto, Rakitic, Vidal, Suarez, & Griezmann.
Whatever the match conditions in the second half are (beside total collapse lol), you have plenty of options there to manage the game at will. Experienced players who can do functional specific tasks. 5 subs

Yes. That's not going to happen. Yes, there are a lot of good reasons to not try that. Yes, I still feel tempted to go for, as I mentioned already, a:
"Fuck it! Mess the whole shit up. Go brave, even if you go home"
At least something not so redundant and different.

Now we have a week to talk about what will actually happen. This one was for the fun of it.
