Who knew Joel Klatt was just a dumb as Danny Kanell?

These guys should know better. But if you don't, that's OK. Allow me to explain why these schools are suddenly talking of cancellation.

(Hint: it isn't because of "the media") https://twitter.com/joelklatt/status/1292305759137492992
Former players like Klatt and Kanell want a season because they empathize with the players.

But the schools have a huge anvil hanging over their heads:

What if people die because of college football? And not just players - coaches, staff, and others could be at risk.
Schools are thinking with their legal department.

If non-paid athletes or employees or their family members become severely ill or die, the schools will be sued.

Have the players sign a waiver? Sure, but you can never again say you act in the interest of student athletes.
Most of these conferences have just been kicking the can down the road in hopes that things get better, or that local municipalities will make the call for them.

But now, full contact practices need to happen to stay on schedule. That sound you hear is liability knocking.
Naturally, you could try the bubble model, in theory. That seems to be working elsewhere.

Now explain how you can do that and still claim "amateurism" status in any legal court cases going forward.

You can't is the problem.
However, the entirety of the NCAA legal framework is based on making billions of dollars off of athletes who aren't paid. The schools, conferences, bowls, and governing body don't want to give that up.

They would rather sacrifice a year of sports revenue. Think of that.
So, that's why we are in this situation.

If you want these players to play in a safe way, like with a bubble, you have to admit they are athletes first. The NCAA will not let that happen.

So, instead, we have...this.

Anyway, that isn't the fault of CFB writers.
