Been partying nonstop during the past 5 months and not gotten sick? Are you using that as reason to say COVID-19 is "overblown?" Congrats, you're most likely one of those asymptomatic carriers. You've likely passed the virus to countless ppl without noticing. Nice job! 1/
Be aggressively empathetic. Understand that your ancedotal evidence of one person evading the virus is NOT representative of what's happening. If people without essential jobs can just, ya know, practice social distancing and maybe stay home a little, we can try to recover. 2/
Remember music festivals? Large public gatherings? A sense of collective calm? Well, none of that is coming back until we pull our weight. 3/
It's so obnoxious and mind-blowing that so many people that have attached their entire identity to festival life haven't skipped a beat, are nonstop partying, traveling, going to bars, not social distancing. Y'all realize you're contributing to why we can't do fests, right? 4/
Y'all claim to love music festivals and say it's your home. Well, please listen to science and do your part. Or it'll be years before we can safely have a live music event without heavy guidelines (which aren't even a safety guarantee). 5/
Please. If you're reading this and it applies to you, I'm not trying to shame you + hurt you but it's come to this. It's not too late to lay low. I promise. If you ever want to see us get back to producing live music events again, please listen to what I'm saying. 6/
My heart breaks every day that my partner's business is essentially on a hiatus. Dozens upon dozens of friends in the music industry have been laid off or are at risk of losing everything. Our entire way of life has been uprooted. 7/
You can't claim to love music festivals if you haven't stopped partying in public since March. You can't love the music industry and deliberately hurt its chances of coming back. Truth hurts. 8/
I'm begging y'all to stop. Please. For real. Limit your contact with people. Some people have been way too chill about dining into restaurants, going to bars, taking trips and taking face to face selfies with tons of people. 9/
I've already lost loved ones to this virus. Close friends have lost parents and other family. Countless friends are sick or have been sick. I'm so sad and I don't want to see any more loss of pain stemming from this virus. 10/
Most other countries have leadership that led them to flatten the curve. Americans obviously don't have that privilege. We have to practice self-discipline and check ourselves. 11/
Are y'all really gonna trust Republican governors who have botched state reopenings with your lives? Claiming something is fine because it's legal has never been a bulletproof justification. 12/
For the sake of everyone who's livelihood is in live music and entertainment, hospitality, and every other industry that is struggling, heed my words. Stay the hell home if you can. Our future depends on it. 13/
