#Thread Survaya ki Garhi- Shivpuri,is a hidden jewel in Madhya Pradesh, known for its rich heritage and architectural brilliance.Believed to be built in the 9th-10th century, this fort consists of a monastery and 3 temples.
Legend has it that when the Mughals tried to invade , this was covered with mud to save it .Its also believed that the Pandavas during their Vanvaas, stayed here for a bit.There is a “chakki” called the “Bhim chakki”.
The temples are dedicated to Shiv Bhagwaan.However, only the first temple has a Shivlinga ,along with a Garbhagrah and shikhar. The 2nd temple has a Garbhagrah but no shikhar.The 3rd temple is almost in ruins.
There are beautiful sculptures all over the 3 temples which boast of architectural intelligence.Its believed that the temple was renovated by the Scindia family.Its a protected monument under the ASI.Source:Google
