"Excuse me, but I wish to be disrespectful towards you in a manner which is linked to your actual identity. If you would, please fill out this identity survey for me and allow me time for deliberation so I can use the correct slur, I would be most appreciative” said no one. Ever.
Because, you know, bigots always like to take time to stop and ensure their slurs tightly fit the usage and identity of the person they're yelling at. Because bigots are always *so considerate* like this [sarcasm]
The issue of bi women reclaiming the word "d*ke", amongst other terms, goes back further into LGBTQIA+ history, issues, slang, in regards to how much our queerness gets censored on a daily basis
As a result, people have fallen into using a handful of poorly crafted stereotypes to describe a whole group, as education continues to be neglected
The anger being thrown at bi+ women who are reclaiming the word "d*ke" is incredibly misdirected: throw your anger at the queerphobes who have made it a slur, who continue to harass women or people perceived as women in same-similar gender relationships
Bi women get called d*ke.
Some nonbinary folks get called d*kes.
Some trans men get called d*kes.
Whether you like it or not, the term is thrown around and against people of all identities
Bi people are part of this history of oppression, harassment, trauma, and abuse. To continue to yell at bi women in particular for reclaiming a word which has been used maliciously against them is to continue to erase their identity and experiences
It also erases LGBTQIA+ history where the term "bisexual" was infrequently used, but instead was understood via the terms "lesbian" and "gay" as umbrella terms for people who experience same-similar gender attraction
This is inherent to the separatist movement in the 1980s which saw bi people displaced and rejected from their community. To continue to deny this is to take away our history too and to perpetuate our erase from the queer movement at that time
I can't believe we're *still* having this conversation. Are we still harassing queer women of all identities and gatekeeping language like Tumblr circa 2012?

Do better
To be clear on my views on all this discourse (and more):

• Bi women can reclaim d*ke + use femme/butch
• bi/pan lesbians are real
• non-binary lesbians and he/him lesbians are also valid as heck
• pan and bi are different - definitions may overlap but the distinctions are important to some people
• you do not need dysphoria / gender incongruence to be trans
• aces and aros are valid and entirely welcome in the LGBTQIA+ community
• fuck the Tories
TW/ racism, sexual assault, trans violence

whilst we continue to split hairs about who can say what or about who can claim which identities, the Home Office is still deporting queer asylum seekers; Black Trans people are being murdered on an almost daily basis; bi people
experience higher rates of sexual violence; carceral institutions are making people's lives living hell; and colonial violence is literally destroying the planet. For these people, splitting hairs over language and identity isn't an option
So, excuse me if I don't spend all day catering to cis-het bigotry
