Among other 'extra curricular' activities, Amma made me join Hindi classes when I was 12 yrs old. I was the only one in my school gang to learn Hindi
In my 11th n 12th std I used to binge watch serials on Sony TV. So much so that I could converse fluently. But once I stopped TV watching, I slowly lost the ability to speak confidently. Today I can understand SRK level Hindi. But I can't frame a sentence easily. I get stuck.
When I travel outside TN I feel helpless. Whether I like it or not, k knowing Hindi can come in handy at a lot of places. I've great fun talking to uber driver annas. However it takes them less than a min to figure out where I am from. Immediate qstn is - Aap Chennai se ho? 🙊

Their answers - YES
