Why I vastly prefer radfem/gender critical politics to libfem as a BW non-feminist divester - a thread.
I just want to preface this by saying that before going on Twitter, I used to throw all modern feminists under the bus because of liberal feminist culture and it’s ills and I will admit that I was wrong for doing so. Many of my mutuals are gender critical/rad fem - it’s so cool.
Two main arguments form the basis of my preference for radical feminism over liberal feminism.
1) Radical feminism’s criticism of liberal feminism’s paradoxical aims of destroying patriarchy; acknowledging that mass coercion of behaviour is required to do so.
2) Radical feminism’s criticism of liberal feminists’ propensity to hijack morally virtuous causes for their own selfish gain - despite being critical of “greedy capitalists”.
1) Radical feminism/gender critical acknowledges that the transgender debate is very dangerous for progressives for the main fact that they are now arguing that gender is a social construct and you can be born a Male with a female brain.
If you can be born a Male with a female brain, that means there is such a thing as a female brain which means there is a biological basis for behaviour. Gender is NOT completely made up of constructs and feelings.
Also radical feminists acknowledge that TRAs perpetuate such a broad and vague scope for what it means to be a woman and feminine but leave such a narrow scope for what it means to be a man and masculinity. This perpetuates the toxic masculinity they hate so much.
Libfems think they can serve the male gaze via WAP culture, free the pussy and sexual liberation culture and destroy patriarchy simultaneously. They think they can go to slut walks, women’s marches and chant men are trash in their 20s but become the housewives they hate later on.
Radfems acknowledge that it would take a mass coercion of female behaviour in order to truly be rid of patriarchal structure - women cannot simply desire part time patriarchy and part time liberation. Radfems acknowledge this dichotomy and I respect their intellectual honesty.
Lastly, as it pertains to black women, radfems/gender critical are more open to concepts such as divestment and using the patriarchy strategically to their advantage. Black radfems criticise white libfems for hijacking the MeToo movement and turning it into a political witchunt .
Libfems pretend that they acknowledge intersectionality but their actions and the issues they centre reveal otherwise. MeToo was stolen from a BW and was an amazing opportunity to open a conversation about BW and domestic violence but got sidelined to favour trivial WW issues.
Gender critical/radfems, take the stage in the comments and represent your side. I don’t agree with you on every thing but Libfems have hijacked the term feminism for the worst and I want your side to be represented properly for ONCE.
