A thread on why confession accounts are harmful (along with some apologies about my initial reaction):
Okay, the most important thing is that I reacted incredibly immature when I first saw the confession account. I've had bad experiences with them but that doesn't excuse me being rude and brash about my wording. That's not the person I want to be. I only added to a toxic situation
I'd especially like to say sorry to my friends bc I was really emotional and spammed the gc, I'm sorry you had to deal w my mental breakdown and all that shit. Feel free to scream at me if I spiral out again.
Now onto the thread. My opinions haven't changed since an hour ago, but the way I want to express them has. I'm not attacking creators of confession accounts. I disagree with what they do, yes, but I believe they're kind people who want people to have an outlet.
My first complaint is
1) This isn't the best way to express unpopular opinions.
If you want to hear unpopular opinions, ask for them! Tweets like that can get a lot of replies actually bc people have strong feelings on Twitter.

This way, it's more of a conversation than "exposing" someone's opinions anonymously
2) Anonymity sucks.
Already I was more forceful than I should have been with a username not tied to my real identity, so not even having something to identify you with it is worse

a) when anonymous, you may word things without keeping in mind that these are people you're talking about or characters people rely on for comfort
b) people will feel more comfortable just yelling back so there's no conversation, just drama

c) people have tried and figured out who is behind the confession account or who made certain confessions, which leads to even more drama and hurt all around
3) It's public, and people abuse that.
Complaining about people where they can see it isn't cool. It's rude. Telling someone they should deactivate bc no one would miss them is disgusting. Telling someone to kill themselves is not funny.

You're allowed to not like people, but talk about it in private with people you know won't screenshot your DMs and put them on the tl where that person could see it.
Really, if confession accounts have to exist (they don't) they should be only posting confessions about fiction

4) But here's the thing, admins are irresponsible.
They're posting these confessions about people not liking certain people to cause drama. They're putting harmful confessions out for everyone to see. It's not fun anymore. It's hurtful.

In short, confession accounts really don't have much of a reason to exist other than to cause drama. Don't interact with them. The less you do, the less people will see them. Ask politely for accounts to be taken down. They only bring toxicity.
Now that that's said, feel free to share your unpopular opinons with me! About fictional characters, through replies or DMs non-anonymously <3
