Teacher friends, books do not write themselves. They’re the result of someone’s labor. Thus, we shouldn’t expect them to be free.

Our response to seeing this shared shouldn’t be, “OMG Amazing!”

It should be, “It’s unethical & illegal to share copies of pirated books.” #edchat

Authors are humans working to pay their bills and take care of their families just like everyone else.

Imagine spending years working on a project and then getting paid less than you should because your work is being shared for free by people who “love your book”. #edchat

And yes, this exchange happened today in a Teacher Facebook group.
