I wish people were more angry about this inequality. I think we can fix this but the most promising paths forward don't get enough attention because we don't see it as a problem https://twitter.com/noampomsky/status/1292166353647009792
I've been thinking of starting an essay series / podcast called The Happy People about hyperthymics that don't get sad or even melancholic
They're just quietly happy so no one knows they exist. If we can let people know how unfair things are they might want it fixed

by quietly happy I don't mean inert. They're usually very social, productive, curious, energetic etc. They often spend most of their life wondering why virtually everyone they meet is depressed, and don't realize till later in life that they're wired differently. Also heritable
If you want to learn more, and hopefully get angry too, here are some starting points: textbooks on neural reward systems (particularly dopamine), hedonic setpoints, limbic system plasticity, mdma, unipolar mania, heritability of depression, {hyper / hypo}thymia, opioids, SSRIs
I think this really summarizes it well. You're still able to see all the bad parts of life clearly and you want to help, but somehow those parts are beautiful and warm too, and you can't see it any other way even if you try https://twitter.com/noampomsky/status/1292171738055417856
Ever woken kind of sad and lethargic and not known why? It's like that, except you feel light, curious, and excited, every day of your life.
I don't think we're far from giving this to everyone if brilliant and passionate people dedicate their lives to making it happen
