The idea of having a threshold of women quota & youth representation in the parliament is half-baked. We have quite a significant number of both groups in the assembly, and they have so far contributed so little.

THREAD:

The youth, in particular, has further corrupted the system & deteriorated its image. Most of them see it as a chance to accumulate resources & have built on that mindset. Let alone meeting the expectations or coming up with solutions, they simply became references for failure.

The women group in the parliament, too, failed to sponsor the very bills affecting their lives. They cannot even join forces to capitalize on their numbers to vie for special agendas. We finally admit that an increase in quota doesn’t necessarily mean an increase in influence.

In the next line-up of both houses, we need to advocate for competent representatives rather than lobbying for numbers so as to make breakthroughs in decisive fronts benefiting our nation.

In short, we need to elect capable officials, not quotas & numbers.
