From the BuzzFeed story:

“There’s no reason for us to come in there — open the door and come out,” an officer told Ingram.

“Derrick, you’re the one making this difficult, we’re just trying to get you to come outside. You’re the one being hostile.”
“My lawyer is trying to coordinate a surrender,” he told police at one point on the livestream. The officers on the other side of the door continued to try to cajole him to come out. “Just open the door,” they called out to him. “This isn’t a trick.”
When the warrant wasn't produced and he wouldn't open...they tried to fake an emergency (a roundabout way to get in without a warrant).
This is a prominent activist. The reason this shit isn't able to fly as easily anymore is because people are paying attention and everything can be livestreamed...just like Derrick did.
Multiple outlets are also reporting this including @nytimes and @thedailybeast
The fact that nothing will happen to a police force that harassed this man, intimidated him, shut down an entire block and wasted taxpayer resources all day...

Is why we need police reform.

This is supposed to be the "land of the free."

We should all condemn this shit.
"Why don't you be the warrior you state you are and come out and face the system?" police can be heard shouting through Ingram's door on his IG livestream."

He doesn't have to face the system w/o a warrant. Maybe cops should be required to have a basic understanding of the law?
I ask myself why is it that I am concerned with whether I'm being "too radical" posting like this...when all I'm demanding is that the police follow the law and stop using harassment and intimidation against American citizens?

We've been conditioned for far too long...
And before you send me your hate mail I'll remind you that I was an infantry Marine who carried a gun. I understand the responsibility and the weight that comes with it.
Carrying a gun and working a dangerous profession does not give you carte blanche to do whatever you want.

You serve the public and if you arent ready to do that then get a new job.
I'm consistently told there are many great cops who want to serve the public the right way.

I don't doubt it and I know some of them myself.

But until they start speaking up en masse, they are complicit to police misconduct.
Look no further than the Navy SEALS who tampered with their deranged commanders rifle so he would stop killing innocents.

They didn't follow a code of silence. They did what was honorable and reported him.
If you are an officer who agrees with me, speak out and use your platform.

Your voice would matter greatly. I know there are many of you who are frustrated with the current situation.
Would 30 officers and a helicopter descend on the home of an officer if he "assaulted someone by damaging their hearing with a bullhorn"?

We can barely prosecute officers when they shoot unarmed citizens in the back.
And if police "just wanted to talk" fine. Try using the telephone.

Or sending two officers to knock on the door and ask. Try leaving a note.

But without a warrant he can refuse and thanks to the 1st amendment he can even tell them to "fuck off."
