A year ago today, @RomeluLukaku9 joined Inter.

Since then, he’s broken personal records on the pitch, but he has also suffered overt racism that cannot be forgotten.

Romelu Lukaku is having the best goalscoring season of his career.
He's also the first player to score 23 Serie A goals in his first Inter season since Ronaldo.
But with success has come racial abuse, starting with Cagliari fans in just his second game.

Here's how Lukaku responded:
After Lukaku scored two goals in two games, an Italian football journalist said on live TV that the only way to stop the striker is to give “him 10 bananas to eat”.

His comment got him sacked.
Lukaku experienced racial abuse in European football too, speaking out after a match at Slavia Prague.
When Inter played Roma, he had to deal with an unacceptable newspaper headline before the game:
Since the restart, Lukaku has been celebrating goals with the Black Power salute.

And he has had plenty of goals to celebrate.
