North Carolina continues to track with California. Shown here are per capita cases, with Florida (US active case leader) shown for comparison. 1/
The fastest growth regions in the US are now Hawaii, Puerto Rico & Arkansas. Note that these are three different outbreaks, and really represent the first wave of cases in these areas. 3/
All three of the largest active cohorts in the USA are now showing declining new cases. This is good, but also highlights how the disease travels. New hotspots emerge as the prior ones are brought under control. 4/
North Carolina has finally gotten past its first peak - the state has never really demonstrated weekly new case declines before. 5/
NC mortality has continued to rise, with the first 7 day period with over 200 COVID-19 deaths reported with yesterday's results. 6/
NC testing rates have largely kept pace with the case growth however we see signs of a rising CFR recently, which really translates to an increasing fraction of cases not identified. 7/
The nation overall is showing week/week declines in new cases, except outlier Hawaii. The median state had an 8% decline in new cases this week versus last. Hawaii had a 79% increase in weekly cases, and last week increased their cumulative total by 53%. 8/
