Like the only reason it exists is to talk down on Dirk's feelings for Jake because you don't like the ship. Dirk and Jake starting to question their sexualities over the genuine bond they had is a big part of both characters, you shouldn't dismiss it as a circumstance thing.
Plus if you squint there are hints of Jake taking his crush pre-scratch, since Grandpa has plenty of Knights on a room lit in orange lights, and has a toy horse on his manor in Hiveswap? That kinda connects I think.
That said, there is potential to explore on Dirk and Jake second guessing their feelings over the fact that they didn't have the chance to grow up normally, and I'm totally just thinking about that right now.
Also I'm not sure how "They only fell in love bcz they had a genuine close relationship they wouldn't have on other circumstances" is not a) More points in favor of the ship and b) Not applicable for many other relationships in HS.
Like yeah I want to make a thing out of this.
