Face masks - what is the legal position?
I don't wear a mask as I have self determined that I am exempt.
That is my personal decision and is backed up by Govt legislation that states "a disability or use likely to cause severe distress" is a valid reason for exemption.
You decide if you are exempt.
So what happens when I walk into a shop with no mask?
Nothing should happen!
I am not challenged as shops know they must treat a person not wearing a mask in the same way as a person who is wearing a mask.
This is why:
Legally shops have 2 deem non mask wearers as exempt. So no mask automatically makes you exempt
They can't ask 4 proof or discriminate against you.
So don't want to wear a mask - then don't.
Your decision. It may distress you?
You may be asthmatic?
Your reasons are private info
Worried about being challenged?
You needn't be.
Shops should not challenge you.
They can't ask for proof.
This is why the Govt released this guidance.
So don't be intimidated.
Walk in, shop, walk out.
Be informed!
