With the sushant singh case dominating discussions in media and amongst people, Perhaps it's time to relook into the police judicial system as practiced in the country. My take as a common man is given in this thread.
1. Only law and order division of police

Should be under state government.
2. The criminal investigation division should be under local authorities like DC. Politicians should not have any role.
3. Selection and promotions of these personnel should be by independent boards. 2/n

I think this was recommended by SC sometime back.
4. Time bound investigations and a third party supervision like internal affairs in US police department should preferable implemented.
While police reforms would only improve police judicial system partially

It's necessary to have a drastic changes in judicial system.
1. It should be made criminal offence on part of lawyers to produce false witnesses or evidences. If they do they should be disbarred.
2. Selection of judges should be purely on merit with 4/n

Selection of magistrate and district judges by an independent board.
3. Time bound completion of cases should be made compulsory.
4. Single judge benches should be avoided in both HCs and SC. They are prone for corruption. E.g. shivraj patio judgement in jayalalitha @PMOIndia

Case in Karnataka HC which was overturned in SC.
5. Better still to bring back jury system as was practiced till 1950's.
6. Selection of HC and SC judgesonly through independent judicial board.
7. Lastly to increase budget allocations for police and judiciary
