This is just a tiny formality thing when you run a big business in China, you need to showcase the "attitude" which is inlined with what CCP presents

you obviously can't openly oppose to CCP, so to make sure things can play in your favor you'd better to follow the formality
it's hard to tell how many Chinese actually are sincere communism believers, political ideology is too complex to digest (even for highly educated ppl), the majority of my generation are just very apolitical and pragmatic af (how to make the first $1M is a much bigger drive)
like big cos in US have their own lobby+ political power behind, most big cos in China have too. China is a one-party system so big cos will find its own support/champions within CCP

However, even within CCP there are very sophisticated and intriguing power struggle going on
