A friend of a friend apparently boasted about how she doesn't have female friends, and that it is completely normal for her. It's left me feeling incredibly sad.

Thread.
As women, other women are the most amazing friends we can have. Women understand women in a way that men simply cannot.
A man can be an empathetic and caring friend, but when you're struggling with the aftermath of a miscarriage, or a heavy period, or when you want to complain about your swollen ankles, guess who will immediately and instantaneously get it?
When women circle around another woman, it is a beautiful and magical thing; it is unmatched. A circle of women is the most powerful force known to humanity, second only to a loving mother's unconditional love.
If you don't have the support of other strong, powerful women, my only advice to you is to find it. Whether it is in real life, coming to you in the form of a warm embrace, a shoulder to cry on, and hours spent talking,
or online, coming to you in the form of support from women you may never meet, the best thing you can do is find your circle.
When you find it, embrace it fully. Dive in. Give yourself to it. Let it wash over you. Surrender to it completely. In the arms of those women, you will find yourself again.
In the words of those women, you will find healing and strength. In the comfort offered by those women, your heart will cease to be so heavy.
Let other women see you and hold you. Show them yourself. Bare your soul to them. Let your tears fall, and let them wipe your tears away. Let them help you to rise again with their fierce love, their gentle support, their loving kindness.
I promise you: it will change your life. You will be altered by it. You will never again be unsure where your people are. Your people are here. They are women. They get it. They will always get it. Allow them in and let yourself bask in the kindness and infinite warmth of women.
