THREAD: THINGS TO AVOID FOR NEXT SEASON.
In this thread I'll discuss the common mistakes in FPL and how to avoid them. #FPL #FPLCommunity
In this thread I'll discuss the common mistakes in FPL and how to avoid them. #FPL #FPLCommunity
#1: EXPERIMENTS WITH CAPTAINCY: Although it sounds "fun" to captain a differential such as Pukki last year, moves like these hardly pay off. It is much better to captain a big hitter against a poor defence. This puts the odds in your favour of getting a 20+ score from your

However, this doesn't mean that you have to captain the highest selected captain always. Which brings me to point #2. In the last season, a no of times Vardy was the most capped player, but there were opportunities in some weeks to
Mahrez, Salah, Mane etc who had the better..

fixtures, and those who dared to go away from the crowd/ "herd mentality", were rewarded heavily. Therefore, always look for the opportunities to captain a different big hitter other than the usual suspect if possible. This can potentially get you 20+ pts over the competition.
#3: Effective Ownership (EO): For the uninitiated, EO is the ownership in a certain rank bracket for eg. the ownership of a player in top 10k (including the captaincy). If this figure is very high and if you don't have those players, they could destroy your overall rank. For eg..
players like KDB, Salah, Mane, TAA etc who are always highly owned. Hence there's a fear to own these players. Let's say if you own Salah who has a high EO but has poor fixtures compared to Sterling, who has a low EO but easier fixtures, would you make the switch? Probably not
merely out of fear that Salah's EO might hurt you. It is important to neglect the EO at times. A low EO player is your sword that could get you up the rankings. Alternatively, you can own the high EO player but captain a low EO big hitter in what could be a "balanced strategy".
#4: VALUE: Value is one of the most major talked about factors when making transfers. Last year, most people bought Lundstram for 4.0 and were reluctant to sell him even after he lost his place around GW 25~ due to the value tied in him, as at this point, his price was around 5m
And you had to spend more money if you wanted him back. But points are always > value. It was very clear that he had lost his place and moving him on was the best option but surprisingly wasn't the most popular one. If if you sell a player like this, you can always get him back
if you want to. Ignoring value at times and moving on to a different player might be a huge difference in your OR and total points at the end of the season. Value is important if you really need that player for the coming weeks, but don't let it hold you back all the time.
#5: TRANSFERS: This is something I had been doing wrong till January this year. Making transfers to sell cheap defenders for other cheap def or swapping around GK s isn't really productive. Making high impact transfers is really important. Getting in the form players early..
is very important. Of course, you won't get it right every time, but even if you get it right a little over half the times, you will have a very good season. Another point to consider for making moves is to bring in potential
option for that particular week.

For eg, if there isn't a standout captain option in your squad for a particular week, and let's say Son/Kane play a bottom placed team, do bring them in and give the armband. This is an aggresive strategy and has the potential to provide big points!
That's it! Hope you liked this thread. Do RT if you did and let me know your thoughts below.
