Last night, during a protest at one of Warsaw's precincts, the police forcibly broke up the disassembly while arresting whoever they could and brutalising them. According to people participating in the protest, the pigs were shouting at each other to arrest people randomly. There were leftist MPs in the crowd – and in Poland, they have a degree of immunity from the police – and they, too, got beaten.

Near as anyone can tell, 49 people were arrested, 10 are missing. Two were taken away from precincts in ambulances.
Intervening MPs are refused access to the precincts in which the arrested are kept.
Apparently most people are held without charges.

Some report plainclothes officers instigating the whole mess by pushing protesters onto uniformed policemen.

Everything begun when Margot, an activist, allegedly hung a rainbow flag on a Christ the Redeemer statue as a protest against state-sanctioned homophobia.
In Poland, this is considered "insulting religious beliefs", which is an actual crime here.

Margot was previously arrested for blocking and slashing the tires of a truck emblazoned with homophobic propaganda. These trucks are a common sight on Polish streets.
She was dragged out of a friend's flat and has likely been the subject of surveillance.

Last night, Margot attempted to surrender herself to the police peacefully – they refused to take her in. A solidarity protest quickly emerged, which is when the police started a riot.

The situation going on in Poland is dire. State violence is being turned against vulnerable minorities, and this is only the beginning.
