/ We’re living thru The Great Unlock in healthcare - things we thought would take 10+ yrs to play out are now playing out in 2-3. Massive dislocation is changing the very topology of the industry, enabling tech to be wedged into zones that were historically intractable.
/ Value chains are being rewired, the center of gravity of data is shifting. Regulation, typically thought of as a barrier to innovation, is actually serving as a catalyst for category creation (e.g. virtual care, price transparency, interoperability).
/ Who is building the new OS for virtual-native care, to save 1000s of digital health companies from having to build from scratch? The *true* Plaid for Healthcare? Insurance products that leverage nat’l provider networks w/ intelligent routing, load balancing, pricing?
/ Tech can enable the evolution from a system that relies on intuition and judgement, to one based in engineering principles, where reusable components and codified learnings drive 10x scale and efficiency to generate high-yield, affordable healthcare.
/ It’s been awesome to see founders coming out of the woodwork to attack these problems - esp the 1st generation of “digital health native” founders emerging from the initial cohort of scaled DH companies. It’s time to build in healthcare! https://a16z.com/2020/08/07/healthcare-technology-great-unlock/
