I am back in North Portland tonight, where a couple hundred protesters have gathered at Laurelhurst Park with a fuckload of shields and other equipment.
Seriously, just an assload of shields. Really well made ones too. You can tell the folks making new ones have gotten good at using them.
The shieldwall departs to the tune of Bella Ciao.
A longer shot of the people of Portland marching. Drums beat out the time.
People are REALLY organized tonight. I would say the group has grown to around 300 people, maybe a bit more.
Yes, also I realize this is more SE Portland than North Portland. Twitter, no edit button, etc.
The shield line stops short of the Multnomah County Sheriff's office, dresses its line and advances.
Here we see the Police. They are making some announcement over the LRAD but no one seems to be able to hear them. As is usual, PPB has vehicle spotlights to stop the press from getting footage of their line.
These police spotlights really are a huge pain in the ass. This video gives you an idea.
Here we see the parking lot entrance, where the PPB ranked up and charged out from last time. So far not many officers there.
Here we have the shieldwall, and its lovely music.
Police have declared an unlawful assembly. Won't be long now.
The crowd hunkers behind their shield wall and waits. LRAD sirens blare around us. No one knows where the attack will come from.
I feel like all we do is brace for impact these days.
The crowd chants, "We're coming for your pensions!"
The riot bards have the crowd bumping!
Riot bard plays for the folks at the front. Still no police charge. Morale is high but this is very tense.
A protester marches out onto Police property, way too close. He is arrested immediately.
More folks step forward into the Forbidden Zone that is city property.

It has taken a weirdly long time for the police to attack. Perhaps the size and organization of the crowd have them wanting to delay in the hope enough folks will eventually leave.
Very little has happened. Elements of the crowd have gotten restless and seem to be trying to draw the police out.
At least the tunes are good.
The police just made an advance, moving up their line as the crowd seemed to lose some cohesion and discipline. The shield wall quickly reforms and takes position.
The LRAD tells people not to do what they are doing. The crowd heckled the LRAD, and then one woman mocks the police for claims that officers were 'blinded' by lasers.
The LRAD warns people not to throw things at officers, so of course people start throwing water bottles.
The police launch the first tear gas of the night. The shieldwall repels it easily.
A close-up of the carnage being done by Antifa's elite Water Bottle Field Artillery Division. Truly harrowing.
Alright everybody, i hate to miss whatever happens but I am out early tonight. I have stuff planned on the morrow.
