Put the old man in aged care, not ideal timing but he broke a hip & couldn’t stay home. Y&B runs in his veins. A member for years. Loves Jack R & Dusty. I’ve organised Foxtel so he can watch the tiges. His centre is in lockdown otherwise I would be watching it with him. Cont’d
He served in the Navy up in PNG at the end of WWII. Cleaning out his house I found some of his Navy gear stashed away. This little metal canister issued to him in PNG has two ends that screw off but one has corroded on. Who can guess what is is? That is a bayonet above. Cont’d
Here is his rucksack, it is made of heavy canvas and large. His name and serial number are still just visible stamped on it.

My biggest wish is for the tigers to continue winning games and flags for him while he can still relish it.
Victory In The Pacific anniversary is a week away, 15th August. No disrespect to the Europe conflict servicemen and women but the Pacific theatre is the most important in our military history. When Australia's sovereignty was threatened and saved.
It should not be forgotten.

Little known fact more bombs fell on Darwin than Pearl Harbour.
Japanese ships were not far away. Their subs patrolled up and down the East coast. They were kangaroo hopping across the small Pacific Islands one by one but were stopped in PNG, a stones throw from our shores.
