fat artists who are gradually overcoming internalized fatphobia and body issues by trying to draw more bodies like theirs in their art deserve the world and then some
it’s rough out here being fat in many parts of society from fashion to trying to receive proper healthcare, and art communities aren’t exempt from that. there’s such an emphasis on skinnier/toned bodies that it’s hard to find meaningful, non-fetishy art including people like me
it’s so easy to kinda... “play it safe” by drawing skinnier subjects because you’re afraid 1) people will tell you you’re promoting unhealthy behaviors 2) people will think it’s weird in a “self-projecting” way or 3) people will use your work as fetish fuel which is so gross
i implore fellow fat artists to slowly, but surely realize their bodies are nothing to be ashamed of and to draw them, but i also ESPECIALLY implore creators who aren’t fat to learn to not only depict us right, but actually... include subjects like us in what you draw, period
