Using honesty as a psychological trigger when writing copy.

# A thread.
You can't but be honest in your copy.

Being honest is your best and only move.

No matter how much you try to be dishonest,

The consumer will figure it out

You may write what you want them to hear,
But they see what you’re trying to cover-up

It's pointless to try and lie to them

When consumers see an ad,

They know the ad is trying to sell something to them.

They know you get paid when they spend their money.
What they want from your ad is a reason that justifies that expense.

And once they get so much as a whiff of dishonesty,

There goes your potential customer.

Consumers aren’t dumb.
And while you may get away with dishonesty a few times,

It'll come to bite you in the ass.

So always be honest with your copy.

While about a product, be open about the pros and cons.

Let the customer know what to expect.
You can explain why the cons wouldn’t matter,

But never try to hide it.

Because doing so only makes you complicit of dishonesty.
