Council is voting to cut SPD’s budget, and suggested what should be cut (horse cops, school cops, cops who sweep encampments, etc.), BUT Chief Best gets to decide where to cut, and could ignore Council’s direction.

Council is holding $$ back from the Police Budget so SPD will start making the cuts, BUT if layoffs don’t happen by November 1st, Council could release the money for cop salaries.
This fight is just beginning.
