A thread on #HazbinHotel and the drama that people are trying to squeeze out of it as well as an observation of what people say they want but what they actually mean they want.

I'm REALLY happy that HH got a show. I was hoping that it wouldn't just be a one time thing so I am-
-glad that Viv made it to her goal. Even though I had known about her for a bajillion years art wise I've only recently learned about her trek throughout all of this and one of the things that sort of hit me was learned that she is a LGBT creator herself. And it makes-
-a LOT of complaints and claims thrown towards her even more laughable.

A follower made a comment that I found interesting; Viv is a LGBT and minority creator which, as we have been told countless times, the industry needs MORE of....but I don't see her being held up-
-as a glowing success considering she did this without the help of the major networks and put TWO pilots on Youtube.

Sooooo....why haven't we been hearing about her sooner? Is it the independent route? Maybe. The adult content? Possibly.
But when you look at the work that Viv put out with Hazbin compared to the other work we've been shown when it comes to the 'diverse shows' everyone tells us we're obligated to like it becomes clearer WHY Viv has been ignored and cancelation has been thrown at her.
Viv created something away from the clique. Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated show that does indeed have diverse character (Everyone complains about AD, but forgets that CHARLIE is BI) but those factors alone are not what carry it. The main plot is the idea of souls being-
-rehabilitated but there might be something sinister within those plans that Charlie herself does not know about. It has it's own plot and it isn't a lecture fest. The show isn't being sold on how Viv is a diverse creator, how the characters are LGBT, and a bunch of things-
-THAT AREN'T THE CORE OF THE STORY. Hazbin Hotel is being sold on it's own premise and was created on it's own merit....and people hate that. People hate that because they can not claim ownership of Viv's work for their own talking points.

AND THEY HATE THAT.
The story doesn't slather itself in current politics, it doesn't tell people to hate themselves because of who they are or who they fuck.

The show doesn't make other people miserable in order to make itself feel good.

AND THEY HATE THAT.
HH is an adult show....but notice how it invites a DIVERSE range of adults in. White, Black, Latino, Asian. Straight, gay, bi, trans. Does it matter? No, it doesn't. Just come and watch some fucking demons. It didn't advertise itself as how it's 'going to tackle the patriarchy'-
-or 'show White male viewers the door' or a bunch of other stupid pointless dumb ass shit that has been so forcefully plauging so many shows right now.

Viv is a diverse creator who can cater to an actual DIVERSE audience.

THAT'S why they hate it.
They hate...that this is a show made by a LGBT minority woman...and she didn't have to antagonist, gaslight, or insult half her viewing base to make it. She didn't have to join the 'big houses' to make it.

She worked. She worked for it and she got it.
They hate that she bucked the system, made her own thing, and got legit praise without using her personal bio as a mean to sell it. She is being herself and they hate it.

They hate that she got this far without THEM and without their stupid rules.

Congrats, Viv.
