A THREAD:

If I've learned one thing about Bristol City tonight, it's that the fans were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and now that they've had a sour taste, the majority have went into meltdown as they're about to announce Holden as their manager.

Is it that bad?
On the blue side of town, it hasn't always looked rosy until recent, especially in the last 10 years with a wide range of talking points from losing out on the UWE deal (and also the subsequent court case which landed us with further debts) to relegation to the national league.
City have thrived with promotion back to the championship, winning the EFL trophy in 2015 and Ashton Gate getting a massive facelift with potential nearby developments.

What more could you want? Why pick blue over red?

Even DC once said you were the "richer side"

Next slide!
Whilst we as fans have endured the misery and mockery for many years, we always believed in a better tomorrow for the club - the appointments of Al-Qadi, Gorringe, Starnes, etc. have rebuilt the Gas from the rubble. The Mem is, yes, a polished turd but its our home at the moment.
Back-to-back promotions followed by stability in League One is where we belong right now, our ambition is to get to the Championship but how do you break the sense of stagnation?

- Appoint the right board members
- Clear the debts
- Build the training ground
- Always communicate
That's just the start though, City have taken the majority of these things for granted until recent but yeah, if I had to wait 5 weeks to appoint a new manager, I'd be fucking seething.

We appointed Ben Garner within 9 days of the Ipswich win where Coughlan said farewell.
Was that the end of it? No, Coughlan then lied about the board not giving him enough despite claiming not be involved in the clubs politics, he just wanted to be closer to his family, amazing stuff eh?

Least LJ was loyal to City, no bad blood even upon him getting the sack.
Lee Johnson may have been a likeable figure in BS3 but his downfall? Being overly ambitious, "Europe in five years" doesn't come overnight.

Look at Brighton, it took them 15 years to build the team they needed just to break into the Premier League, no UEFA Cups yet.

Baby steps.
I get that the City board (And fans) want PL football and its understandable as they've maintained Championship status for a few seasons now, anything less is a backwards move.

Slating a manager before he gets appointed though is a dick move and sets you up to be laughed at.
We appointed Darrell Clarke and Graham Coughlan when they never had any previous EFL management experience, cheap options? Yeah, duh... They had other roles in the club.

But what we achieved on the pitch under their tenures was undoubtedly turning points for the club.
DC was booed to start with but he gave us back-to-back promotions and a stable spot in League One but when shit hit the fan and the damage was that we were 23rd in League One, who did we turn to? Enter Graham Coughlan, our defensive coach...
Took us from the pits of League One to the very dizzy heights of that same league within just 12 months. Sure it didn't win us promotion and the football was as fun as watching paint dry but I'd take a League One spot over facing Harrogate and Macclesfield in League Two.
I know that Holden want Johnson's right hand man but that doesn't mean that's he's necessarily rotten to the core, he's doing a job.

The anger has to be directed to the very top of hierarchy, most Gasheads will have laughed at the current affairs but we've faced much worse.
Point being, it doesn't matter who you appoint, its what they do that counts.

Be humble and accept that sometimes these things do happen, maybe not ideal as the other candidates looked attractive but support your team regardless.

Fin.

P.S: Yes, I had lots of free time tonight
