been having some recent conversations & realized that a lot people who follow me don't know what I'm up to outside of writing a book about venture & tweeting...so I'd love to tell you more about what being a Developer Success Engineer at @WorkOS is like...[a thread]
it all started when @grinich reached out to me via twitter about the position. at the time, I was a couple weeks from graduating & was looking at mostly technical product manager or venture associate roles. i wanted to work in some vertical of b2b SaaS and talk to customers often
i had also been looking at developer success/technical sales/solution engineer roles. based on @briannekimmel's focus on developer success/relations, I knew that this would be a growing field as more and more SaaS companies focused on improving their developer experience.
after my initial conversation with Michael, I was really impressed by his vision for the future of enterprise readiness for cloud software companies and the iterative engineering & product-focused culture he was building at WorkOS.
i also talked with @jtaylorhodge, the first Developer Success Engineer on the WorkOS team & was so excited about joining the team ✨ I ended up accepting their offer & started at @WorkOS a week after graduating from SDSU.
At @WorkOS, we get to help cloud software companies start selling to enterprise customers with just a few lines of code. my favorite part about working here is seeing the delight on developer's faces when they integrate features like SSO in under an hour!
since starting in May, I've gotten to wear many hats, from watching Taylor give demos and helping developers integrate, to tweeting threads @WorkOS, to leading demos(you'll see me if you sign up on our website!), to incorporating feedback & helping with our first customer event!
it's been a wonderful three months so far, serving devs working on the future of work and helping operationalize developer success! this is a new role at the intersection of technical sales, customer support, engineering and product - imo it is the future of growing SaaS cos
we value developer success because it has the power to nurture happy and satisfied developers. the more developers that have an absolutely delightful experience integrating with our products, the larger our base of champions and promoters grows.
i'm beyond excited to work with an incredible team here & our amazing investors to build a culture focused on the developer experience...also, if any of what I just tweeted struck a nerve - come join us ✨ we're hiring: https://workos.com/jobs
