Do you remember THESE Things?? 👇👇

POPSOCKETS!

You probably have one RIGHT NOW!

If you give me 30 seconds of your time...

I'm going to tell you a COOL little story about this little invention

(cont...)
If you're not familiar with PopSockets

They're the collapsible holders/grips that attach to your phone...

Everyone was BUYING them!

✅They were FUN
✅They were EASY to take selfies with
✅They were CUSTOMIZABLE

But that's NOT why I'm sharing this story!

(cont...)
You see...

In 2010 David Barnett INTENDED to create a solution for a MAJOR problem...

TANGLED headphones!

His idea was SOOO simple he went out THAT DAY to create it...

In just a FEW hours, he had a WORKING PROTOTYPE!

What was the solution?
He GLUED one BIG button to his phone...

Then glued multiple little buttons to form a rod...

Then another BIG button at the tip..

He thought it was GENIUS!

Unfortunately...

His friends and family called it "GROTESQUE"

*sigh*

Back to the drawing board

(cont...)
After COUNTLESS hours learning how to use AutoCad

After 60 DIFFERENT iterations of a collapsible button

After 2 YEARS of labor

He finally launched, what we now know as, the PopSocket

2014 > 30k grips sold
2015 > 300k grips sold
2016 > 3M grips sold
2017 > 35M grips sold

Because...
⚡️ 1. Despite popular belief... feedback from family can be crucial!

Imagine he went out that day and tried to sell his GLUED BUTTONS

> No one would buy from him

> Someone could have taken his idea and made it better
⚡️2. You have to be willing to LEARN and TRY something new

David didn't know how to use AutoCad...

BUT he taught himself!

Because of this he was able to make rapid changes to the design on the fly

Relying on someone else, would have cost him the SPEED of implementation
⚡️3. Don't Give UP

He went through 60 DIFFERENT iterations perfecting his product!

60!

Some people don't have the mental fortitude to keep going passed 10...

let alone 60!
Hopefully this story lit a FIRE in you!

I've seen too many people give up too soon...

Or reverted back to the normal life because they weren't making progress!

I get it..

It's hard!

But if you keep showing up and you keep working on your craft..

GOOD THINGS WILL HAPPEN!
If you found this story fun and enlightening..
