Okay quarantine situation day 8. So at 145pm yesterday I get a call in my room. Its wet outside and pretty miserable. I am just watching TV. As you do when you have not left a room for 7 days. It was the hotel staff informing me that I have to vacate my room and get escorted
to a hotel 75 miles away in Brisbane. The state of Queensland is closing its border with its southern neighbor New South Wales because of covid in less then 24 hours. Anybody coming across the border will be quarantining in a hotel at their own expense which is currently $2800
for 14 days. I said " Hell yes I guess I am getting that fresh air break. " Also this is fucking awesome because it breaks up my time and its an adventure. The guy tells me you have 30 minutes to get your bags packed and outside your room. I tell him Easy done. They will be
there in 15. Okay so the police and a nurse turn up and hour later while I am waiting and explain the protocols for moving to a hotel. I stopped them and said I want assurances that this move is not going to affect my time and they said in a pretty firm voice that
as long as I don't deviate from the directions then no time will be added. Three hours later they grab me from my room and take me down stairs. There is about 30 cops and soldiers and staff from the hotel. I ask how many people are moving?
They said they are moving 100 people on 5 buses. I saw some of my plane people and chatted at a distance with them, They eventually get us on a bus , notate where we seat. Making sure there is reasonable distance between everyone. Once we were all
on. A really loud angry policeman got on the bus and said if anyone moves their seats they will get time added to their quarantine. Really pointing out that we should not be jumping seats like we had. Nobody had moved on the bus at all.
A couple who I knew from the the original flight. Th guys rips on the copper and said you don't get to talk to us like that The copper from the front of the bus said don't move from your seats. I said we didn't with probably a bit much force as well. The
guy next to us yells at him we didn't move at all and your behavior is unacceptable . Virtually spat it at the copper. The guys wife is asking him politely to settle down. the copper hops off the bus. The bus is dead silent. We are like this for about 15 minutes. A much
more humble policeman hops on the bus and explain how everything is going to work. He is thankful for everyone's behavior so far as this is highly unusual for everyone and its extremely difficult time. He also dropped the line " We are in this together " @HotepDadMax No shit
we then head to the city of Brisbane which took and hour and was met by Army and police. Checked in and this process was a little more loose. But sent to our rooms and this is now home for the next seven days. Key take aways from this.
Aussie government is spending so much money suppressing covid that it is mindbogglingly.
There is literally no room for any individual to have any thoughts or opinions here. The people in charge do not care about your thoughts or views. I am okay with this
OZ is suppressing
covid so damn hard that there will be waves of this shit. 2nd wave, third wave, fourth wave. I have concerns about how sustainable this is for this economy.I have other concerns about Australians trapped abroad. There are Aussies trapped everywhere. They cannot get back because
Australia is shutting its borders. 4000 people only into Australia a week. There is so much to think about . I guess I got time. Interesting times.
Things are way different then the U.S. I have traveled so much and I am pretty confused by how everything is working. I dont really know how its all is going ot shake out. We are fucked globally right now. So damn fucked.
